I'm just a huge Disney geek who's finally living out her dream! I grew up in Overland Park, KS, went to college at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, and now I'm working in Attractions at Disney World in Orlando, FL. I'm also a singer/songwriter, so check out my bi-weekly Disney song videos!

WOW

What a whirlwind this first week has been!

After 2 long days in the car, we finally made it to Orlando!!!

Day 1
Day 2

We made it!

MONDAY:

I checked into my apartment at Commons at 8:30am, but I didn't have enough time to check out my apartment before heading to Casting! My bus left for Casting at 8:45am, and we spent a little over an hour filling out paperwork and being prepped for our upcoming time at Disney! Afterwords, I was able to start moving my stuff into my new apartment! We magically ended up with our first pick (Commons 6 person 3 bedroom), which I have never heard of happening before, so we felt very fortunate. My roommate picked the room with the cute bay window, and we quickly started moving in. I was so glad to have my mom there to help me move in - I was super nervous about meeting my roommates for the first time, so it was comforting to have her there with me. After I took her to the airport, my new roomies and I had fun bonding and sharing our sweet roommate gifts with each other! I could NOT have been blessed with better roomies!!!

All of our roommate gifts together!

TUESDAY:

The only thing I had scheduled for this day was a mandatory drug testing for the DCP. I wasn't worried about it, but it ended up taking too much of my day. All I'm gonna say is that it's really uncomfortable to stand around drinking water with a group of other people who couldn't quite fill the cup all the way. My tip? Drink a lot of water before you go. You'll save yourself a lot of time and anxiety.

WEDNESDAY:

At noon, I signed up for Disney's seminars (classes), because who wouldn't want to take a class about one of the most successful companies of our time?! [Update: I got into the HR class!] Then I went to a housing meeting at 1pm. I expected it to be boring and short, like the ones at Belmont, but they had fun music, crazy disco lights, and some pretty funny videos. I left the meeting feeling extra excited for my time at Disney! In the evening, we visited Universal Studios' City Walk for my roommate's birthday. I highly recommend Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville - it had such a fun vibe and I loved the live music!

THURSDAY:

My roommate and I ventured over to Universal Studios again to get our seasonal passes! We spent the day in the Studios side, exploring the new (or at least new to me) Harry Potter area, as well as riding some of my favorite rides! I think my favorite new experience was seeing the Ragtime Gals before riding Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Found a sign that looked all too familiar!

SATURDAY:

Yes, I skipped Friday. I didn't do much that day, other than organizing my room. On Saturday, I got to go to Traditions, a long class where we learned about Disney heritage and were introduced to the infamous Four Keys. I won't go into detail, but there were some pretty amazing surprises at Traditions that allowed me to cross one or two things off of my Disney bucket list! By the end of the class, we had been given a pair of Mickey ears, our Disney IDs, and our OFFICIAL DISNEY NAME TAGS!!!
